First Impressions and Setup

Upon arrival at the Penitente Campground in South Central Colorado, I was greeted by a rather dramatic hail storm followed by rain. Despite this, the weather cleared, leaving a beautiful sunny day perfect for setting up my new tent.

I unpacked the Camvil inflatable canvas tent from its surprisingly roomy carrying bag. The tent itself was nicely wrapped and included a clear instruction manual, stakes, guy lines, and a small hand pump.

The initial setup involved laying out the tent and using the included pump for initial inflation. While the hand pump worked, it proved to be quite labor-intensive. I also had a high-volume pump on hand, which helped considerably.

Inflation and Securing the Tent

I found that the included hand pump was insufficient for fully inflating the tent. A high-volume pump was much more effective, though it still took some effort. The tent features sturdy D-rings at the corners, allowing for easy staking.

Once the tent was mostly inflated, I used stakes and my installation rock to secure the corners. This provided excellent stability, greatly reducing any concerns about the tent's wind resistance.

The inflation process was a bit more challenging than expected, but once the tent was fully inflated and staked, it felt exceptionally sturdy and secure.

Interior Features and Design

Inside the tent, there's plenty of room for one person, with enough space to comfortably stand and move around. The interior features include a small sunroof that zips shut, mesh windows for ventilation, and multiple storage pockets.

The construction of the tent is robust, using plastic tubing integrated into the cotton canvas. A patch kit is included for repairs, which is a thoughtful addition. Each side also has a pocket for keeping belongings organized.

The mesh windows are a convenient feature, however, the design necessitates going outside the tent to access and adjust them. This is a slight drawback, although it doesn’t necessarily make the tent unusable.

Overall Impressions and Final Verdict

The Camvil inflatable canvas tent offers a unique blend of canvas comfort and inflatable convenience. While the inflation process presents a minor challenge, the overall quality and design of the tent are noteworthy.
